Gaming Links of the Week

It was recently announced that "Tactical Intervention" (from the co-creator of Counter-Strike) will be released this year, and that a closed beta will take place in March. The below RPS article gives more information on it and includes a link to a trailer video on You Tube. I'm maintaining some hope for it despite the general consensus that it looks bad. It could be a fun game - it's not even finished yet!

Rock Paper Shotgun: Tactical Intervention Pokes Its Head From Cover

Next up is more of a website than an article, but if you haven't been following Counter-Strike:GO you can get caught up on it here:

As anyone familiar with the CS community would reasonably expect, opinions and reactions to what we know so far about CS:GO span the whole spectrum, with plenty of highly negative reactions. The CS community generally does not like change. They have been playing the same CS for years and years. They know the game inside and out. It makes sense that they would resist the change brought on by a whole new version of the game. However, if you are not a die-hard CS fan, I encourage you to keep an eye on this game. A new CS could be great for people new to the franchise, as well as the more casual existing CS players.

Valve has said the game will include both a casual as well as hardcore mode (with laddering system and skill based matchmaking).

Great place to find daily sales on video games

I check this subreddit daily -- If you check it only once a day, try to do so around 10:30 AM as this gives time for the Steam sales to be posted, as well as all the others which generally publish their sales a little earlier than Steam.
